IDHATSP started in October 2007 in iLembe District in KwaZulu Natal, South Africa. All program initiatives and strategies were undertaken in collaboration with key national stakeholders that included the KwaZulu Natal and iLembe District HIV/AIDS and TB Programs, the KwaZulu Natal and iLembe District Departments of Health, Social Development, Education and Local Municipalities. The Program’s main strategy was to expand the success of the previous MCDI/South Africa’s projects conducted in Ndwedwe sub-district to the other three sub-districts of the iLembe District and to provide a model for scaling up in other areas in KwaZulu Natal.
